I won’t play mind-reader or tolerate the silent treatment as punishment. If someone has an issue, I expect them to communicate it honestly and respectfully (as I do for them). Boundaries in communication mean I ask for directness – experts agree that kindly and assertively stating needs is far healthier than stewing in silence or sniping with sarcasmstudentaffairs.stanford.edu. By refusing to engage in passive-aggressive dynamics, I keep my relationships transparent and fair.
