Interesting, I used to think that self-love = self confidence. But as you say, self love is much more than that (and any surface level confidence). Also, totally agree that setting boundaries and protecting your peace is never selfish…it is necessary!
I think I am one of the worst concerning Self-betrayal. Excellent article. It really did cause me to look into the mirror and do some honest examination.
I really appreciated your piece, especially the way you explored the complexity of self-love. I totally get what you’re saying about affirmations not being a cure-all. For me, though, mirror affirmations do seem to help. When I speak gently to myself, something like “You got this”. It actually shifts my whole day.
But I agree with you that it’s never just that one thing. It takes many steps to build real confidence. So when I look in the mirror and say, “You get them, girl,” it’s backed by the work I’ve done elsewhere: setting boundaries, showing up for myself, unlearning shame.
I also really liked the part where you described what self-love looks like in action. I used to apologize all the time, for just existing in a space. Now I save “I’m sorry” for when it really matters, when I’ve hurt someone, or bumped into them, not just for being me.
Thank you for sharing this, it resonated more than I expected.
I Love this Anton! Love Youself, I wrote a somewhat similar article reflecting on self Love through watching my little sunshine. Center of Love on my publication.
When we Love ourselves, we grow more Love and be in a better position to love other's too.
This hit home in all the right ways Anton. Self-love really does show up in the small, daily choices. Less mirror talk, more boundary-setting. Thanks for saying it with so much honesty and strength.
I love this! Boundaries. Telling toxic people in your life to back off. Thanks Anton.

Love is a verb. Not just an idea
