Is Mr. Chan a saint no obviously not but at what point do you stop coddling and enabling them before you let them figure out the consequences for themselves if if you're not helping them to be the best they can in the real world it's going to kick them in the 🍑 and it won't be in a loving way so you have failed your child, as a parent, and society because that's who's going to fix it any way they see fit and pickup the tab in the process!
I’m just saying that the crack down hard on him because he was Jackie Chan’s kid. His court case was televised nationally. Jackie made public statements against him. I certainly understand the pressure to have to confront public scrutiny. compare that to Quentin Jackson, who recently put out a public statement on behalf of the son Raja Jackson. he did not condone his son‘s actions, but you could see in his message that he was very careful not to denigrate his own son. You know this article really tickles me because like I’m realizing that I’m looking at it differently now and there’s many open questions about it. I agree with you. There’s absolutely a line and I’m not asking people like I’m not saying for example that Jackie should have use his connections to help him evade consequences. I’m just saying he had no shred of empathy for his child at all at any point actually it doesn’t seem like the whole story that I was seeing was that like this man had no empathy for his child at any point, and this was just part of a bigger pattern
Who cares whether Chan is "a saint"? And what does that even mean, to those of us who are over 12 years of age or so? Snitching against your child for possessing cannabis, AND publicly disowning him, is a horrible response to that situation. Assuming the facts recounted are substantially true, Chan undoubtedly failed his child "as a parent" LONG before discovering the Weed stash. I'm not crying about my share of society "picking up the tab" - we need to do better for young people and recreational substance abusers, whether we over-adulate celebrities or are influenced by Chinese culture or not.
