Most people entering the US ILLEGALLY don’t want to assimilate. In the past, immigrants like all 4 of my grandparents wanted to become American. They learned the language, studied for citizenship and made their children speak English.

We can’t let tens of millions enter this country without an invitation, expect our country to support them and continue their allegiance to their homeland. America, like every other country, cannot continue to exist under this scenario.

Older immigrants got jobs or starved. They didn’t kill, rape and murder. They became Americans.

We need to control who comes here and expect them to be respectful of our culture. I didn’t hear any of that from you.

I needed some time to process this. I think if I jumped to respond I would be unclear and possibly regret my response. This is such a charged topic. It's so weird. I was on one side of this debate for my whole life. Now, I'm on the other. (I just got my papers, ya'll - I'm safe and free!) I think the thing I disagree with you one is how much raping and killing illegal immigrants are doing. I also think that these are some notions that touch on cultural biases that have been around for a long time. But I had some time to reflect, and I do think it's fair for Americans to expect some minimum standards from new people coming to their country. Loyalty, assimilation. That makes sense. Even though controversial. But still. FAIR. I literally changed my name to Tony to assimilate. And it feels good to lean in to being more American. I fucking love it. As far as immigrants go, I look to Arnold Schwarzenegger as a great role model. And, I do think it's important for people coming in not to create problems for the people already there. As much as possilble. (This is where the government must step in to mediate. But this conversation is already so much difference with the new ICE developments. I hope you get this.

Wow. Powerful, raw, and urgent. And you discovered dance! Thank god for that salvation, anyway. Yes, it’s unbelievable what’s happening in the US. Unconscionable.

Thanks for reading. YES. I can't understate how surreal my life is. I've partied harder in the past 3ish years than all of the rest of my life combined.

This made me happy. :)
